Formación

The Cardiac Surgery Department of Hospital Universitario Quironsalud Madrid/La Luz and Dr. Alberto Forteza Gil (Head of Cardiovascular department) are welcoming Cardiac Surgery residents in the last two years of their formation, Cardiac Surgery fellows in their last year and Cardiac Surgeons to attend for a 1 month rotation to our department.

This program provides residents, fellows and junior cardiac surgeons with an interactive opportunity to observe and participate in the operating room with experts in the treatment of aortic valve insufficiency and aortic aneurysms. Other activities that will be available: 

  • Complex aortic surgery.
  • Minimally invasive repair of complex degenerative and functional mitral valves.
  • Coronary revascularization on- and off-pump techniques.
  • Aortic transcatheter valve.
  • Perioperative patient management.
  • Intraoperative imaging techniques for proper case planning.
  • Multidisciplinary approach for the treatment of valvular heart disease.

 

Candidates: This program is specially orientated to Hispanoamericans surgeons. Each year there will be 2 vacancys available for our Training Academy program and the best 2 curriculums would be elected to get a scholarship to cover some of the expenses.

The Francis Fontan Fund alongside with the European Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons (EACTS) and the Cardiac Surgery department of Hospital Universitario Quironsalud Pozuelo and La Luz are hosting the Aortic Root and Valve Repair Fellowship for European cardiovascular surgeons. 

This fellowship consists of a three one-week internship in a high-volume centre (Madrid/Paris/Brussels/Rome) and two EACTS courses (Introduction to Aortic Surgery and the Aortic Valve Repair Summit). 

During this Fellowship, the fellows will be exposed to a wide variety of training including lectures, Wetlabs, symposia and in-hospital training focusing on the management of aortic regurgitation and aortic root dilatation.
